Little did Kristin or George know that June 28, 2011, in Athens, Greece would be the starting point for the most incredible and beautiful adventure. About a month prior, Kristin completed her MBA at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana and moved back to Washington, D.C. for a job at Special Olympics International. The Special Olympics World Summer Games were taking place at the end of June in Athens where Kristin went for work and George was there as a volunteer tennis coach for Special Olympics Team USA. At the last minute, Kristin was asked to emcee a press conference for Special Olympics and George was asked to bring two of his tennis athletes to be a part of the press conference. After the press event, they started talking and George took Kristin\u2019s business card. He followed up with, according to Kristin, a \u201cvery business-like email\u201d after their meeting. Many emails and hours logged on the phone followed.<\/p>\n
A couple of weeks later, George was traveling back through Washington, D.C. (where he allegedly had a business meeting scheduled) on his way back from visiting family in Lebanon and asked to take Kristin out to dinner. Should we say the rest is history? For the next three or so years, Kristin and George traveled back and forth between Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. to see each other with trips to Boston, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Chicago, Montreal, Malawi, Prague, Amsterdam, Jamaica, Korea, Michigan, San Francisco, New York, and many others in between! Kristin moved to Indianapolis in September 2014.<\/p>\n
It was definitely the best Christmas ever! On December 25, 2014, George proposed to Kristin in front of the Hughes family on Christmas morning in Arlington, Virginia and later that day they flew back to Indianapolis to share the surprise with the Srour family in Indianapolis. You\u2019ll have to ask George about the funny details of how it all happened \u2013 Kristin was quite surprised!<\/p>\n

The ceremony will be followed by cocktail hour, dinner and dancing, which will be held inside the Manor. (We hope you bring your dancin\u2019 shoes!) Depending on the weather, you may want to bring an extra layer of warmth in case you want to explore the beautiful property, walk over to the barn or see the old caboose located on the property.<\/p>\n

In order to make it easy for local and out of town guests we\u2019ve put together two options (the links below will take you to our room blocks online):<\/p>\n
1. The Westin Hotel in Arlington, Virgina (Ballston, specifically) will house the larger hotel block and will be where George and Kristin will be staying. It is about 50 minutes from the wedding venue.<\/p>\n
This hotel is walking distance from the metro (Ballston-MU Station on the Orange and Silver Lines) and easy to access Washington Reagan Airport (DCA) and downtown Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
The Westin Arlington Gateway Buses will be provided from the Westin Hotel to the venue for the wedding. Buses will leave the Westin no later than 3pm<\/strong>. Guests should be in the lobby of the hotel by 2:45pm to load the buses. \u00a0 There will be two options to return to the Westin: 9pm and 11pm.<\/p>\n 2. Homewood Suites in Leesburg, VA has a room block for guests who prefer to be closer to the venue. This is about 20 minutes from the venue and located close to downtown Leesburg and the Leesburg Outlets. The closest airport is Washington Dulles (IAD).<\/p>\n Homewood Suites<\/a> Both room blocks are under: Hughes\/Srour Wedding<\/p>\n Other Weekend Activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n We will kick off our wedding weekend on Friday, October 30 with a Halloween-inspired gathering for all guests who wish to attend. George and Kristin love a good costume party, so costumes are encouraged! No need to RSVP, just show up and join us for a drink! The gathering will be held at the Lounge of The Westin Hotel in Arlington, VA at 9pm.<\/p>\n
